From Grassroots to NPL: A Big Weekend of Football

mwfa media · Aug 15, 2026 · Leave a Comment

It’s a mammoth weekend for football across the Northern Beaches, with finals, league titles and plenty of last-round action on the agenda.

On Saturday, 24 Junior Mixed teams will battle it out in semi finals across six age groups, with a coveted place in next weekend’s Grand Finals up for grabs.

Across the rest of the weekend, thousands more players will take to the field for the final round of our Junior Women’s, Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s winter competitions. Some teams have already wrapped up their League Championship, while for many others, one final game could determine whether their season continues into the finals.

There’s plenty happening at the top of our local competitions too. A huge congratulations to Forest Killarney FC, who have made history securing the Men’s Premier League title, while the Women’s Premier League goes right down to the wire, with tomorrow’s results set to decide whether Pittwater RSL FC or ABH United FC finishes on top.

Games are happening peninsular wide, and you can see who is playing where by checking the football bible, Dribl.

And at Beaches football HQ, there’s another great reason to get your football fix.

Cromer Park will host the final home games of the season for Manly United’s Senior Men on Saturday and Senior Women on Sunday, providing two opportunities to watch our local players who compete at the highest level of NPL football.

There’s also plenty on the line for the Senior Men, who head into Saturday’s clash sitting sixth and riding an impressive nine-game unbeaten run. With finals football in their sights, Head Coach Vladimir Knežević has called on the Beaches community to get behind the boys for one last big push at home.

For our younger footballers in particular, it’s a chance to watch, learn and be inspired by players competing at the level they may one day hope to reach themselves. Many of today’s Manly United players began their own football journeys at local grassroots clubs before being selected into the representative pathway and progressing through the ranks. For the next generation watching from the sidelines, it’s a reminder of where their own football journey could take them.

So, if you’re playing football this weekend, make it count! Work hard, play fair, respect your opponents and officials – and most importantly, enjoy being out there with your teammates.

And if you’re simply a fan of the beautiful game, why not get behind our local players!

Cheer on our grassroots teams as they battle it out across the Beaches today and tomorrow, then head to Cromer Park for the main events and show your support for Manly United. The club’s Senior Men play their final home game today at 5pm, while the Senior Women take to the field for their last home game tomorrow at 5pm.

It’s a huge weekend for football on the Northern Beaches – let’s get behind it!

mwfa media · Aug 11, 2026 · Leave a Comment

This week marks the conclusion of the 2026 Junior Mixed Winter Competition, and we’re delighted to celebrate our league champions after another fantastic winter season.

And what a season it’s been! Thanks to kinder weather and increased field availability, teams enjoyed more football than ever before, making this one of our biggest and most successful seasons in recent years. From the first whistle in April to the final fixtures last weekend, it’s been a season full of memorable moments and fantastic football.

Congratulations to every team that has earned a Junior Mixed League Champion title this year. Your hard work, commitment and teamwork have paid off, and you should all be incredibly proud of your achievements.

A special mention to the teams who not only won their league but remained undefeated throughout their 2026 campaign – including Manly Vale 18/4 who won all of their fixtures – and to the three teams who achieved success in the State Cup as well as our winter comp: Collaroy Cromer Strikers FC U13/1 A, Dee Why FC U16/1 and Saint Augustine’s FC U18/1.

Of course, there’s still plenty of football to come! Along with the teams who placed second, third or fourth in their age group and division, our League Champions now turn their attention to the finals series, with semi-finals this Saturday followed by grand finals on 22 August. The Association wishes all players and teams taking part in this next exciting challenge the very best of luck.

Meanwhile, our Junior Girls League and senior men’s and women’s competitions all wrap up next week before their own finals campaigns begin. We can’t wait to see how the remaining premiership races unfold.

Congratulations once again to all our 2026 Junior Mixed League Champions!

MWFA Players Bolster ETP Program

mwfa media · Jul 31, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Over 80 players from across the Manly Warringah Football Association have now joined the Manly United Emerging Talent Pathway (ETP) program.
Launched in February 2026, the program helps provide talented players from grassroots clubs with additional training to further their development. Players also have the opportunity to represent the MWFA in any Association tournaments, while some will progress to trials for the Manly United pathway.

Now into its third term, the program has already exceeded expectations and the MWFA is pleased to confirm:

-Over forty players have joined the program in Term 3

-Four players have already been identified by Manly United FC

The program takes juniors in the U13, U14 and U15 age categories. While this term is almost at capacity, there are still a few spaces remaining. For more information about the program, parents can contact Chris Seeman at the MWFA – communityfootball@mwfa.com.au – or email Manly United FC: admin@manlyunitedfc.com.au.

Four State Cup Champions Crowned as MWFA Clubs Shine on the Big Stage

mwfa media · Jul 14, 2026 · Leave a Comment

The Manly Warringah Football Association is celebrating an outstanding Football NSW State Cup campaign after four member clubs were crowned 2026 State Cup Champions across the junior age groups.

Congratulations to CC Strikers (U13 Boys), Seaforth FC (U16 Girls), Dee Why FC (U16 Boys) and St Augustine’s College FC (U18 Mens), who all lifted State Cup trophies following impressive campaigns built on teamwork, resilience and outstanding football.

Their success is a testament not only to the players and coaches involved, but also to the families, volunteers and club communities who supported them every step of the way.

CC Strikers U13 Boys

CC Strikers’ Under 13s completed a remarkable State Cup campaign by defeating Kirrawee Kangaroos FC 2-0 in the final.

After a tightly contested first half finished scoreless, the Strikers took control after the break with a superb long-range lob before sealing the victory with a second goal late in the match.

The team’s success was built on an exceptional defensive record, conceding just one goal throughout the entire State Cup campaign. Combined with their attacking quality and disciplined performances, it proved to be a thoroughly deserved championship.

Seaforth FC U16 Girls

Seaforth FC’s Under 16 Girls produced a fantastic State Cup run, overcoming several tough challenges on their way to lifting the trophy.

Their campaign reached a dramatic high in the quarter-finals, where they fought back to overcome Rockdale City after a thrilling 3-3 draw before prevailing 4-3 in a penalty shootout away from home.

The girls backed that performance up with an impressive 4-1 semi-final victory over Kirrawee Kangaroos FC before producing another composed display in the final to secure the State Cup title and complete a memorable campaign.

Dee Why FC U16 Boys

History was made for Dee Why FC as their Under 16 Boys claimed the club’s first-ever Football NSW State Cup title with an outstanding 3-0 victory over Greenacre FC.

The performance capped off months of hard work, commitment and determination from a talented squad that continued to improve throughout the competition – not to mention overcoming through two penalty shoot outs along their cup journey.

Supported by dedicated coaches, families and the wider Dee Why community, the players created a moment that will forever hold a special place in the club’s history.

St Augustine’s College FC U18 Mens

St Augustine’s College FC capped off an outstanding campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over White City SC to be crowned Under 18 State Cup Champions.

Having reached the final last year, the squad returned determined to go one step further. After leading 2-1 at half-time in a closely fought contest, the boys produced a dominant second-half performance to pull away and secure a well-deserved championship.

It was a fitting reward for a talented group that showed both quality and resilience throughout the competition, scoring a total of 27 goals and conceding only 3.

A Campaign to Remember

The association also congratulates our other State Cup finalists who proudly represented the Northern Beaches.

Harbord FC’s Under 15 Girls fought all the way to a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat after an outstanding campaign, while Pittwater RSL FC’s Under 13 Girls and CC Strikers’ Under 18 Girls also earned their place on the biggest stage before finishing as runners-up.

Making a Football NSW State Cup Final is an achievement in itself, and every player, coach, volunteer and supporter involved should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished.

Congratulations to all seven MWFA teams that reached the 2026 Football NSW State Cup Finals. You have represented our association with distinction and once again showcased the strength of football across the Northern Beaches.
