Summer Football FAQs

Do we play if it rains?

All summer football competitions are held on synthetic surfaces which means rain does not stop play.  Games may be cancelled due to lightning, in which case you will be notified via Dribl.

What if I don’t have enough players – can we borrow?

Yes, your team can borrow players if necessary. Please see the competition rules for full details.

I was injured while playing. What do I do?

All our registered players are insured through the FNSW insurance program.  For more details click here.

How do you capture the score from each game?

The MWFA summer football competition operates just like its winter competition where the team managers and the referees must enter the final score at the end of the game in Dribl.

Why are there no scores for the U6 to U10 age groups? 

The priority for these younger players is about improving their ball skills and having fun, not just playing to win. By continuing to monitor the progress of the teams with no competition table, it gives us the flexibility to amend the draw (if required) to try and minimise the number of one-sided high scoring games.

Do we play in School Holidays or on Long Weekends?

Yes, Summer Football continues to run during school holidays and over long weekends. Each competition operates on different days – please check our fixtures tab for up-to-date game information specific to your comp.

What age groups do you have at Summer Football?

Age groups runs similarly to our winter competition, e.g. Mixed U6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, All Age Men and All Age Women*

What happens if we can’t play a match during the Summer Football season?

We understand that sometimes teams cannot play. A forfeit will be registered against your team and the points awarded to the opposing team. This does not apply to non-competition age groups between U6 and U10.

The best way to notify us of a forfeit is through the Dribl app on the match sheet page however a follow up email to summerfootball@mwfa.com.au is also required.

What do we wear?

Each player will receive a playing shirt as part of their registration fee.  It is suggested that your shorts and socks are all the same colour.  All players must wear appropriate footwear as per the laws of the game and shin pads must also be worn for player protection.
