As we head into MWFA Men’s Premier League Round 17, you could throw a blanket over the top three teams … and you’ll probably need a blanket to stay warm in this weather! There are intriguing battles everywhere you look, so get set for another exciting round of MPL action.
Mosman have put some distance between themselves and the teams chasing a top four spot after two important wins in the last two weeks. They host CC Strikers at Middle Head Oval, and with Strikers leading the league on goal difference there will certainly be plenty on the line for both sides.
Second placed Narrabeen are looking to pounce on any slip up from Strikers so they can take top spot. Their next game is away to Brookvale – the Round 6 meeting between these two teams was a 0-0 draw, so we could see another tight contest at Grahams Reserve.
Pittwater are hot on the heels of the top two and coming off three consecutive wins. Up next for them is a home game against BTH Raiders and they have the chance for a league double over BTH, following on from a 1-0 win at Terrey Hills Oval in the first half of the season.
There’s an important game at Lionel Watts Oval as Wakehurst host St Augustine’s. Fifth placed Wakehurst need points to stay in the hunt for a finals place, while Saints are hovering just above the bottom two and are hoping to end a losing streak.
Beacon Hill are fresh off the bye weekend and will be confident because their last outing was a 1-0 win over league leaders CC Strikers. However, Harbord are undefeated in their last four games, so everything points to a fascinating encounter at Beacon Hill Reserve.
