WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE ROUND 10 PREVIEW

Only two Women’s Premier League Round 10 games will be played on Sunday as the other two have been postponed due to clashes with the Football NSW State Cup semi-finals. This is a big chance for the teams involved in this weekend’s WPL action to climb the ladder.

Wakehurst can jump into the four with a point against Manly Allambie at Millers Reserve. However, the Challenge Cup Finalists are sure to be aiming for victory so they can put maximum pressure on Curl Curl, who currently occupy fourth place. Manly Allambie will be trying to end their winless run and they can take confidence from the previous meeting between the two teams, when they beat the Tigers 3-1.

At Kitchener Park, we’ll see two teams looking to bounce back from defeats in Round 9. Brookvale could move closer to the top four if they take all three points against Pittwater, but neither team is out of finals contention, so there will be plenty on the line when the teams take the field. In Round 3, Brookvale beat Pittwater 2-0 at Grahams Reserve.

We would also like to wish the best of luck to Beacon Hill and Seaforth ahead of their State Cup semi-finals.

Beacon Hill will face Northbridge (Northern Suburbs FA), and the WPL league leaders should take plenty of confidence into the game after scoring 17 times in their three previous State Cup fixtures, including a resounding 6-1 win over Dunbar Rovers in the quarter-finals.

Seaforth’s quarter-final victory was more dramatic – they needed a penalty shootout to defeat Manly Vale. Their semi-final opponent is Thirroul from Football South Coast, and Seaforth will be looking to add a State Cup triumph to their MWFA Challenge Cup victory from earlier in the season.

Both State Cup semi-finals are at Cromer Park on Sunday afternoon, providing a great opportunity for fans to attend and cheer them on!
