BTH Raiders junior, Manly United veteran, Sydney FC star and Matilda Remy Siemsen continues to make leaps and bounds in her footballing career as she signs with Swedish club AIK for their upcoming season.
Siemsen’s love of football started at the young age of four in the Manly Warringah Football Association where she played for Belrose-Terry Hills Raiders.
Whilst playing her junior years at BTH, Siemsen joined Manly United in the development squad, playing for BTH on the weekends and training at Manly United throughout the week.
At the age of 10 Siemsen decided to take the next step and join the Manly United SAP program.
For the past 12 years Siemsen has been an integral part of the Manly United club whilst continuing to climb the grades of Australian football.
Manly United and the MWFA have had the privilege of watching Siemsen grow into the professional footballer that we all see today.
From her first NPL First Grade match, to signing with Sydney FC at just 16, becoming a Young Matilda the same year, winning back-to-back premierships with Sydney FC, taking to the international stage as a Matilda and now signing for AIK, Siemsen has always and continues to do Manly United and MWFA proud.
This exciting new step in the 22 years old career will see her compete in the Swedish Damallsvenskan (Women’s first division).
With the Swedish season aligning outside of the A-Leagues women’s we may still see Siemsen back in the Sky Blue. However, the clash of the NSW NPL and Swedish season means Manly United will have to say farewell to their beloved striker.
Siemsen will make the trip to Europe to take on this new adventure following the Matildas two friendly matches against New Zealand, in which she has just been named in the Matilda squad.
The MWFA and Manly United are so very proud of everything Remy has achieved and we cannot wait to see what incredible things she does next! We wish her all the best in Sweden and will continue to be cheering her on from this side of the world.
