The 2022 season is just on the horizon (if the rain will go away) and it is shaping up to be a great season of football across the Northern Beaches!
This year the Manly Warringah Football Association has an incredible total of 20,732 members, inclusive of players, coaches, and manager.
The Northern Beaches will see 18, 468 players take to the field, a number that will certainly grow as the season kicks off.
“It is exciting to be on the verge of kicking off season 2022,” said MWFA CEO David Mason. “The start of the season is a wonderful time for the players as they look forward to getting back on the pitch, but it is also a great relief for the army of volunteers at Club level who have worked tirelessly over the last two months.
“Good luck to all teams and players and we look forward to celebrating Grand Final Day at the end of August.”
The MWFA player demographic continues to shift with an increase in female players who now make up 33% of our competition.
An astounding 1409 teams have been entered into the competition across our 17 clubs, from Under 6’s all the way through to Over 45’s and Women’s Over 40’s.
121 U6 teams with 1398 players will kick off their footballing journey, playing in the MiniRoos format. Whilst 37 Over 45’s teams and 22 Women’s Over 40 teams are continuing to live out their football dreams.
However, no one would step foot onto the park without the tireless work of many volunteers, including committee members, coaches, managers, and many others.
1,457 people have taken on the job of coaching this year to help our teams perform whilst also growing our players love for the game.
A further 1090 people have volunteered to ensure the teams are match day ready by taking on the role of managers.
So, let’s all sing rain, rain go away and get ready for the 2022 season to lift off!
