MWFA Select take on the Manly United First Grade team for their annual match up this Wednesday at 7:30pm on Cromer Park 2 and is a match not to be missed.
The MWFA select team are entering the match with a win under their belt after defeating Northern Suburbs (NSFA) 3-2. Whilst Manly United are looking for a win before their season opener next weekend after a 3-3 draw against Northern Tigers last Saturday.
Last year’s match saw an entertaining clash between the two sides which resulted in a 4-2 victory for Manly United.
With history and expectations stacked against the MWFA side, they will be looking for the upset and to prove themselves against Manly United’s best. While Manly United will strive to hold onto the trophy for another year.
As MWFA Select approach their second game together, Manly United will have more than a few players to keep their eye on.
Luke Curnow (CC Strikers) will no doubt cause havoc for the Manly United squad up front. Having played a key role in the match against Northern Suburbs by a converting a penalty and setting up MWFA’s first goal, Manly United will need to be on high alert.
The combination of Curnow and Aaron Peters (St Augustines) will also keep the Manly United side on their toes. The pairing has already put their experience to use in the game against NSFA and will no doubt bring this to the match on Wednesday night.
However, Manly United will not be short of talent on the night. New signing Kristian Santich will be looking to make an impact and show the Manly Warringah football community what he has to offer. Whilst CC Striker junior Dejan Pandurevic will no doubt be heavily involved in the encounter like he was last year when converted a penalty to put Manly United into the lead.
