Congratulations to Jacinta Newcombe on receiving the Manly Warringah Football Association Meritorious Service Award for her loyalty, dedication, and commitment to Avalon Soccer Club over the past 13 years.
After many years of being a dedicated volunteer for Avalon Soccer Club it is only fitting that Jacinta receives this award.
Jacinta has proven to be a loyal, hardworking, reliable, and honest club person for over 13 years.
Over her time at Avalon Soccer Club Jacinta has held many positions including, 10 years as a Junior & Youth Team Manager – U6’s to U15’s for her son’s team, 6 years as a Youth Team Manager – W12’s to W18’s for her daughter’s team, 6 years as Head Registrar (current position), 2 years as Club Secretary (current position) and 6 years on the Executive Committee (current position)
There are many responsibilities involved when taking on multiple positions in a club. Over the years Jacinta has been responsible for all tasks involved in being a team manager for two teams, head registrar whilst overseeing two assistant registrars and club secretary.
On top of all of that Jacinta has spent many additional hours at the club going above and beyond. Jacinta has been heavily involved in assisting on registration, grading, preseason, and presentation days with set up, organisation, processing and clean up.
When Jacinta was not busy organising multiple teams, she was assisting on BBQ duty, canteen duty, set up and take down of all mid-week, Friday night and weekend games as well as team gear distribution and collection.
Jacinta has also been the recipient of many prestigious awards at Avalon Soccer Club including the Club Woman of the Year (Pat Ford Memorial Shield) 2018, Services to the Club (Greg Ball Memorial Shield) 2019 and nominated for Life Membership in 2021.
There is no job at the club that Jacinta hasn’t undertaken and given 100% to.
To top it all off with the last two seasons impacted by COVID restrictions, Jacinta has been a great help always making herself available to assist when club duties arise.
As Avalon Soccer Club said, all club’s need volunteers of Jacinta’s calibre as they are the true backbone and heartbeat of our clubs.
The Avalon Soccer Club feel they have been very lucky to have someone like Jacinta Newcombe as a volunteer for many years and could not think of a more worthy recipient for the MWFA Meritorious Service Award.
