MWFA, Manly United and Sydney FC have joined forces to grow football on the Northern Beaches.

The new commitment sees Sydney FC and Manly United running joint skills training sessions with Wakehurst and Pittwater RSL while continuing its commitment to work together to grow football.

Sydney FC is expanding its commitment across the Sydney football community in a Hyundai A-League club first, by appointing six dedicated fan development officers across each of the clubs major regions within its footprint.

One of those Fan Development Officer, Taylor Cahill, will look after the Northern Sydney region and work closely with Manly United and the MWFA.

This huge investment in Sydney FCs community strategy aims to grow the Sky Blues fanbase through increased local touchpoints over the coming years, with a key focus on fostering relationships with the local football fraternity, helping junior player development and developing fans for the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League.

The expansion allows the Sky Blues and Manly United to run skills training programs with grassroots clubs and foster a partnership with 50 weeks a year, giving the Sky Blues a year-round community presence.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend hailed the expansion and welcomed the Sky Blues new fan development officers.

Sydney FC have a strong focus on our football community and this expansion will allow us to further foster our relationships on a daily basis, he said.

These appointments will provide us with the opportunity to deliver even more football programs to the grassroots which down the track will generate a new generation of Sky Blue fans for the club.

We want our new stadium filled with Sky Blue Members and this community program commitment will go a long way to fulfilling that.

MWFA and Manly United CEO David Mason applauded Sydney FCs commitment to growing its fan base through strong and consistent engagement at grassroots level.

This is good news for football on the Northern Beaches, Mason said. For football to truly achieve its potential both at the grassroots and professional levels we need to work together to achieve shared positive outcomes.

This year Manly Warringah became the biggest football association in NSW through sustained growth and we want to help the A-League grow as success at the professional and National Team level will have a positive influence back at grassroots.

Sydney FCs move to appoint a Fan Development Officer in Northern Sydney is a positive step and will allow us to work together on the Skills Training Clinics to assist grassroots players who want to improve and ensure we continue to assist with the growth and success of Sydney FCs A-League fan base.

The partnership will also continue to deliver a range of opportunities for the participants of the game within those regions at Sydney FCs Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League games, and throughout the clubs football season.
