Coaches from the MWFA region and as far as Parramatta attended the recent FFA Community Goalkeeping Course held at Seaforth Oval. The Community Goalkeeping Course teaches coaches how to facilitate fun, safe and engaging practices for goalkeepers of all ages from MiniRoos through to senior keepers.
MWFAs Community Coach Development Manager was full of praise for the coaches in attendance “to have 11 coaches who are committed to helping their goalkeepers develop and enjoy the game is very pleasing to see, coaches ranged from parents of MiniRoos goalkeepers looking for some tips and guidance to help their son or daughter to current and former goalkeepers looking to help their respective clubs, the course gives a great introduction to goalkeeper coaching and for some it has now given them guidance and direction to develop and plan game realistic practices with perception, decision and execution incorporated”
Seaforth Oval was the host for the course and the MWFA would like to thank Seaforth FC for their hospitality and accommodating them into there busy weekly training schedule. Adams was impressed with the clubs facility and its suitability for education course “To be able to host the course at Seaforth was terrific, the clubhouse is a perfect fit for coaching courses and provided a welcoming and enjoyable learning experience for the candidates, as I look to decentralise coaching courses and take them out into the football community Seaforth will certainly be a venue of choice, thank you to club president Richard for helping to get the course off the ground”
This goalkeeper course is the first step in the MWFAs plans to further support goalkeepers and goalkeeper coaches, goalkeepers are often the most neglected player in the team and often have to fend for themselves in their development. The MWFA is committed to further goalkeeper education courses and educational workshops throughout the remainder of 2016 and into 2017.
