WAKEHURST sent out a message of intent to the rest of the competition after beating fellow title aspirants Beacon Hill 1-0 on Sunday at Melwood.
Sam Coupland scored the game’s only goal in the first 15 minutes, in what was a quality encounter.
Tigers defender Gemma O’Toole said it was all about building momentum ahead of the semi-finals.
“Manly Vale are probably too far ahead, so we are looking to finish second,” she said.
“We can take plenty of confidence out of this result, Beacon Hill asked plenty of questions but we managed to keep them out.”
Other games saw Manly Vale dust HSU 4-0, Avalon thumped Brookvale 5-2 and Forest Killarney beat Seaforth away from home 2-1.
