Over the last two Wednesday nights, Manly Warringah Football Association have been running the Daughters & Dads program at Cromer Park, in conjunction with Football NSW.

Daughters & Dads is an award-winning program that uses football to strengthen the bond between fathers / father figures and their daughters. In Term 2 of this year’s school calendar, the program is being held in Hornsby, Blacktown and at FNSW headquarters (Glenwood), in addition to the sessions that are being held at Cromer Park. Participants gather on a weekly basis for both classroom-based education sessions and practical sessions that teach football skills.

The Northern Beaches section of the program is being facilitated by local coach Marilinda Winter, who is delighted to be working in an area of football aimed at boosting participation amongst young girls.

“I am thrilled to be facilitating the Daughters & Dads Football program in the Northern Beaches as it is a wonderful pathway for breaking down barriers to female participation in football, as well as fostering confidence and empowerment for young girls.

“This engaging program gives dads the confidence and opportunity to spend quality time with their daughter while picking up some coaching skills. It’s wonderful to see the daughters happily rough and tumble with their dads and learn some footwork skills, whilst having fun. We even throw in some cheesy dad jokes at the end of each session!”
