The teams have had the chance to blow away any pre-season cobwebs with last weekend’s Challenge Cup games, now it’s time for Round 1 of the MWFA Women’s Premier League!

All Women’s Premier League fixtures are scheduled for Sunday 3pm kickoffs, so it’s a chance for fans to settle into a routine as they support their clubs throughout the year.

Seaforth begin their title defence at home against Beacon Hill, who will be looking to make amends after defeat in a high scoring Challenge Cup game. Brookvale are another team that want to bounce back from Cup elimination – they face Wakehurst at Grahams Reserve.

Curl Curl won their Challenge Cup tie in a dramatic penalty shootout and they’ll be wanting to carry that momentum into their Premier League season opener against Pittwater. Finally, Manly Vale will be aiming to turn things around from their loss on the weekend when they meet Manly Allambie at David Thomas Reserve.

We look set for a packed MWFA women’s calendar, with the Premier League season, Challenge Cup games, State Cup fixtures and the new Sapphire Cup (the knockout tournament for Football NSW women’s teams) – all things point to an exciting year for women’s football!
