Teal Shirts for First Time Referees

Teal Shirt Social Media

This season Football NSW have launched a pilot program called, the Teal Shirt initiative.

The initiative sees first year referees wear a teal shirt with the aim of encouraging respect and support for first year referees and to assist in providing a welcoming environment for referees who are new to the game.

First launched by Football QLD, The Manly Warringah Football Referees Association are supporting this initiative in the hopes of helping first year referees have an enjoyable season and build confidence in their roles.

As the football season starts to kick into gear players and spectators of football on the Northern Beaches may start to see these teal shirts at their games. These shirts can be worn all year round so they can be identified as new referees.

Keep an eye out for teal referees this year and remember those wearing teal are still learning.
