Manly Warringah Football Association would like to congratulate Vince Santarosa on receiving the MWFA’s Meritorious Service Award for his many years of dedication, commitment, and passion he has given to our footballing community and our game.
Vince is a quiet achiever and works behind the scenes as Club Treasure, a position he has held for 16 years, but his association in the local football community from a young age will reveal his total involvement to our code.
Vince is also on the recently formed Brookvale FC Executive committee, which was set up to run the club in an efficient way as the club was increases in size with now 85 teams and over 1100 registered players.
Vince played at leading role in the formation of this Executive committee and the system works very well.
Vince’s junior career started at Curl Curl in the (U/12s) in 1975 and then moved to Manly Vale for several years.
Vince then saw the Azzurri blue light and came across to Brookvale FC in the 1990’s.
He played in the amateur league competition with same of his mates for Brookvale in 1999 and that year he also became a member of the clubs general committee.
Vince was then appointed the clubs AL/div 1 coach for Brookvale from 2003 to 2005.
He was appointed club treasurer in 2004 and assisted the club in raising the necessary finances to purchase new playing shirts as the club was increasing in playing numbers, a trend which is continuing to this day.
Along with his treasurers’ duties Vince was appointed Men’s PL coach in 2004. A position he held for 5 years until 2008.
Vince had outstanding success as the PL coach winning both championships and finals while he was in charge, alongside his brother Joe assisting him before Joe took over from Vince in 2009.
In 2006 Vince was on the organising committee that ran a fund-raising event (an all-day 6 a side tournament) for the COBRA AND MONGOOSE organisation. This organisation was founded by former Brookvale player and P/L coach Michael Symons which raises funds to build schools, homes etc in 3rd world countries. This 6 a side tournament was highly successful and raised over $8000. Brookvale FC has an ongoing commitment to this organisation by providing unused playing shirts to these 3rd world countries which Vince is involved with.
His work as treasurer, committee member since his coaching days has been outstanding, making himself available to the club, at any time.
