THE rise and rise of Manly Allambie has been beyond impressive.
Entering a women’s squad in the MWFA Premier League for the first time last year, Kyle Cannon guided his team to second spot on the ladder and a semi-final spot.
In 2019 they were again in the top four and this Sunday they take on Beacon Hill in the grand final at Cromer Park from 5pm.
Club president Russell Rodgers paid tribute to Cannon, who has piloted the girls to the Grand Final.
“Kyle came to us with an ambitious plan at the end of 2017 and he has certainly delivered,” he said.
“The way they play as a team has plenty of people talking. We are very proud of the girls, and it is a massive occasion this weekend, we finally get to play in a Premier League grand final.”
And it isn’t just the leading women’s squad who are turning heads at Millers Reserve.
Club numbers have increased the past few winters, and with talk that Millers Reserve could be the recipients of three future synthetic fields from Northern Beaches Council, the future is bright.
“We have a healthy committee who just want the best outcome for everyone,” Rodgers said.
“Hopefully we can sign off this year with a grand final win for the girls.”
