BEACON HILL will take on Manly Allambie in this Sunday’s women’s MWFA Premier League grand final following a pulsating 5-4 semi-final triumph over Manly Vale.
Naomi Peterson, Ayse Adalis, Sam Lee and Beth Sweeney all found the back of the net, before Sweeney won the game from the penalty spot for Beacon Hill in extra time.
Coach Vince Vescio paid tribute to his squad at the final whistle.
“At 4-2 up I thought we had it won, but we fell asleep from two set pieces which you just can’t do against (Manly) Vale,” he said.
“It was a great game from both sides, thankfully it went our way this time.”
Remarkably, Manly Vale beat Beacon Hill by the same score in last season’s semi-final.
In the other semi, Kyle Cannon’s Manly Allambie outclassed Wakehurst 2-0 at Lionel Watts, with Sarah Roger and Cassie Rodgers providing the goals.
