Women's MWFA Premier League – Easter hiatus

INCOMING Brookvale coach Heidi Van Weeren is relishing her time in the hot seat at Graham Reserve.

Replacing long term mentor Colin Euers in the off-season, Van Weeren has been encouraged by her team’s bright start across the first couple of rounds, which has seen draws against Seaforth and Wakehurst.

“We are in a rebuilding phase, players like (former Matilda) Gill Foster and (gun striker) Jemma Satchell can’t be replaced overnight,” she said.

“I feel we have started fairly well, we just need to tighten a few things up in defence, the girls are all working hard.”

With no games on Easter Sunday and only 14 rounds in the league competition, Brookie are targeting a big run in the State Cup across the next couple of months.

“It will be interesting to see where we are at compared to other teams in different associations,” Van Weeren said.

“Going deep in the State Cup and also performing in the league are our two main goals this season.”
