Manly Warringah Football Association is pleased to announce that it has appointed highly-regarded Coach Educator Eugene Lawrenz to the position of Community Coach Development Manager.
Eugene joins MWFA after an impressive career in coach education that has seen him present coach education courses for Football Federation Australia (FFA) and Football Federation Victoria (FFV) as well as grassroots clubs throughout Victoria and ACT.
Eugene will take control of the MWFA Coach Education program, which is regarded by FFA and Football NSW as one of the best in Australia.
Eugene was appointed from a strong list of candidates from the Manly Warringah area as well as all over Australia and internationally, but it was his track record of driving the CCC Program and coaching courses that saw him stand out from other candidates.
We are extremely happy to have Eugene join us at Manly Warringah Football Association as the Community Coach Development Manager to drive our grassroots coach education program, said MWFA CEO David Mason.
Ensuring that our 18,500 players have a good football experience is our number one priority and educating the coaches who are responsible for driving that enjoyment is crucial, especially amongst the younger players.
We have worked hard to put in place a strong program with our 17 Member Clubs and Eugene is the best candidate to ensure that our program continues to grow and give our players a good experience.
Eugene will begin the new role on 4 February but is already making plans for the busy February / March period to ensure the coaches start the season in April armed with the skills and knowledge required.
“Im excited to be joining Manly Warringah Football Association to help drive their grassroots coach education.” Eugene said. “Continuing to develop coach education is vital and has been a passion of mine my entire career, and I now have the opportunity to continue what I have been doing in one of the biggest football associations in Australia.”
“I spent some time in Sydney to meet the people and have a look around at the facilities, and I am very keen to get started in 2019 helping to educate coaches on how to give their players a quality football experience.”
Eugene replaces Chris Adams, who has moved to Football NSW, and joins the MWFA at an exciting time of expansion and growth.
The MWFA is proud of its coach education program and determination to service our Member Clubs in this crucial area and we had already agreed to expend the program in 2019 and Eugene will help drive that growth, said MWFA President Jeff Smit.
Eugene is currently in the process of completing the training to present C and B Licence courses.
