The past few years the cupboard has been bare, and Blues coach Simon Euers is determined to buck the trend in 2018.
On Friday night his team take on Dee Why in a blockbuster under lights at Cromer Park from 7pm.
“All the boys are looking forward to getting out and playing a competitive match,”Euers said.
“I’m a fan of the (match of the round)concepteach week at Cromer Park, the competition should be a spectacle.
“Dee Why is a tough ask for us, they were grand finalists last year, we will be up for it.”
Other games to see out the opening roundon Saturday sees Pittwater RSL FC host Mosman, Seaforth do battle with Narrabeen, St Augustine’s tackle Manly Vale and Wakehurst lock horns with CC Strikers.
