The MWFA are proud to announce its Senior Mens Select squad for its annual fixture Vs Manly United on Friday 23rd February 2018. The squad will be co coached by the 2017 Mens Premier League coaches of the year Ryan Butcher from CC Strikers and Adam Israel from Pittwater RSLFC.
Both coaches have worked closely over the recent weeks to formalise their squad and are ready to go for the eagerly anticipated clash against NSW NPL Champions Manly United at Cromer Park on February 23rd. Former Manly United defender Adam Israel knows just how hard the challenge will be to take on the champions but he is excited about the opportunity to showcase the local competitions best talent.
These games are always a spectacle for players, coaches and spectators to come down and enjoy some high quality football showcasing the talent we have here on the Northern Beaches. The game will be a real test for the MWFA lads so it is important for us to have a packed Cromer Park supporting the boys from kick off
The squad will hope to draw on the success of the MWFA U18 Select side who defeated Manly United earlier in 2017 with Israel & Butcher mirroring the succesful preparations that side utilised. Butcher said: It was great to see the U18 side get up over Manly United so hopefully we can draw some inspiration from that. The challenge for Adam and I is to get the squad to gel together and play a system that will combine all of our strengths. We’re going to have 4 training sessions and the pre Manly fixture Vs Northern Suburbs the week before on February 14th so we are hoping to hit the ground running.
2018 will also be the launch of the Manly Warringah Football Championship which will see junior fixtures played before the showcase senior game as part of a best out of 5 series. With the MWFA now having its Association Youth League teams in place from U13 to U16 they will go toe to toe with the Manly United Boys Youth League teams on February 23rd. Entrance to Cromer Park is free of charge and the bar and canteen facilities will be open for supporters to use, all match and squad details are below:
