For Female Football Week, we spoke to Adelaide Williams, who is in her fourth season as a referee with MWFRA. Adelaide also plays for Harbord. She started officiating after being asked to fill in when there was no referee for a game her younger sister was playing in, and she loved the experience.
“I found a course, my friend & I enrolled and completed the course.
“I enjoy the atmosphere of the games and just being at the fields all day. It’s a really nice community and it’s a fun environment.”
Adelaide was part of the officiating team for last year’s Women’s Premier League Grand Final and relished the challenge. She is looking forward to many more years as a member of MWFRA.
“It was tough, needing to concentrate all the time, but it was really good, getting my skills sharpened for that game, getting to know the other refs.
“Refereeing is definitely something I’m going to keep doing. I would like to go further up, but we’ll just see how things pan out.”
