MWFA defeats NSFA in women’s clash

The Manly Warringah Football Association (MWFA) women’s team made it two from two for the MWFA after defeating Northern Suburbs (NSFA) 1-0 in front of a healthy crowd at Charles Bean Oval last night.

The MWFA women’s team claimed victory with a last minute goal, finding the back of the net with the last kick of the game.

A tense and tight contest was heading towards a penalty shoot out before Seaforth’s Eliza Apps tapped home a corner from Manly Vale’s Grace Jacobs. SO late was the goal that both coaches had made tactical substitutions in readiness for the shoot out.

The late goal rocked the home team but saw the MWFA girls celebrate wildly, a testament to the culture instilled in the team by coaches Chris Wood and Riley Kilpatrick.

The annual MWFA v NSFA Select Game was played in good spirits with chances limited at both ends as strong defence was a feature of the match.

The victory in the women’s game follows a similarly tight win for the MWFA men’s team last week – giving the MWFA both trophies for the 2023 season.
