At the recent MWFA Annual General Meeting, Alan Glixman was awarded the MWFA Meritorious Services Award for his services to football in the Manly Warringah area.

Alan Glixman (known to most as “Al” ) is a longstanding, loyal and committed volunteer of Seaforth FC spanning 14+ years on the committee. Prior to joining the committee, he was actively involved with his son’s junior teams, coaching, managing, and gaining a flavour for life at Seaforth FC.

However, Al’s more substantial contributions to the club commenced in 2008 when he joined the committee assuming hands-on roles with the training ground and teams’ coordination responsibility. Al wasn’t long in these roles either before he stepped up further and volunteered to take-on an executive role and became Club Secretary from 2010.

During the 12 years in this role, Al has made significant contributions and brought substantial changes, introducing structure, rigor, and discipline to a key area of the club, which can often get overlooked by members.

His contributions as Club Secretary have been immense, where he has sought to ensure the club has consistency, transparency and discipline across Seaforth’s operations, documenting policies and procedures and ensuring compliance and integrity in all club matters.

This has ensured fairness and equity across all aspects of the club, from players and teams to the general club community. Al is huge advocate of ‘fair game time’ and applies meticulous attention to club judiciary matters – an area he seems to thrive in!

In 2019, Al took sole responsibility for the development of a new Seaforth FC website, driving the design, preparing all the material, and coordinating with web developers.

This culminated in a comprehensive and elegant website to inform and communicate with our members – an outcome the club is very proud of.

Through COVID years, Al coordinated the club COVID plans and compliance to ensure we were able to operate through the challenging times. In the last few years, Al has also gone above and beyond and regularly takes on extra committee roles, when the club was short on club volunteers.

Al is an invaluable asset to the Seaforth FC Club and to MWFA, taking volunteering and ‘commitment to community’ to new heights.
