MWFA women's Premier League round 11 review

WPL-ManlyValevAllambie14April2019-4278

IT wasn’t pretty, but in the end Manly Allambie did what was required to beat Forest Killarney 2-1 on Sunday at Melwood Oval.

Cassie Rodgers gave the away side the lead, only to see the hosts equalise from the penalty spot early in the second half.

Needing someone to step up, Kiah Kennedy answered the call, scoring the all important winner for the ladies from Millers Reserve.

“I thought we played great in the first half, we just needed to be a little more clinical with our chances,” Manly Allambie coach Kyle Cannon said.

“Forest Killarney are a good team, and once they equalised, I was a little worried.

“Thankfully we managed to score again with about 20 minutes to go, and then did well to hang on.”

The result also sees Manly Allambie open up a six point buffer on fifth placed Seaforth with the semi-finals looming.

Other results saw Manly Vale outclass Brookvale 3-0 to wrestle back top spot, Beacon Hill and Seaforth played out a 2-2 draw and Wakehurst got the better of Mosman 2-1.
