CCC CLUB OF THE MONTH (APRIL): AVALON

The CCC program is now in its third year in Manly Warringah, with the majority of clubs in the association proactively providing coach education and coach support/mentoring. This is something everyone in MWFA can be proud of, as most other parts of the country are still looking to implement this program.

CCCs, or Club Coach Coordinators, traditionally fill the role of Technical Director, Director of Coaching or Head of Coaching. Rather than creating an additional role, this program is simply a case of recognising the work they already do and giving them a consistent title from an MWFA and FFA perspective. This is a vital role at a club, as it provides coaches with ongoing guidance and advice during the season in their environment with their players, to compliment official coaching courses, or at least encourage coaches to reflect on their coaching and consider taking up further development opportunities. The most important thing is that the players have fun, develop their skills and have a positive experience in the game, and our CCCs deserve a lot of credit for the work they have done over the last couple of years in providing this support and helping their coaches achieve these outcomes.

For April, we want to give special recognition to Avalon Soccer Club.

CCC Jud Harrison organised a MiniRoos Coaching Course early in pre-season which received a lot of positive feedback, and in general the club has been very proactive in promoting and encouraging their coaches to attend all MWFA coach education opportunities.

The club then hosted a Coaches Forum to kick off the season and had 39 coaches in attendance, which was more than 3 times their normal total for these kinds of workshops in the past. The number couldve actually been bigger, because several other coaches were attending an FFA coaching course at Cromer Park on that same night, and so clearly the interest in personal development at Avalon is on the increase, which is great to see, and great for their players!

CCC John Kowtan (JK) has also been attending a lot of FFA community coaching courses himself recently despite having done all of them in the past and being an advanced qualified coach, so that he can be across to most recent messages coaches at that level are receiving and continue to offer more coach development programs and workshops at his club.

MWFA is pleased to provide Avalon SC with a $200 equipment voucher through Pro Football Group as a reward for their efforts so far this season.

If you are a coach at Avalon and would like to receive support at your training from a CCC, please contact Jud or JK, as well as their other CCCs Lyndal Caruthers and Ron Simpson.

If you arent sure if your club has any CCCs, we would definitely encourage you to find out!
