AVALON won plenty of admirers after winning the MWFA women’s Premier League grand final from fourth spot from last year – and if Sunday night is any guide, they should be title favourites in 2018.
Larry Bates’ squadwere emphatic, outclassing Wakehurst 5-1 at Cromer Park to progress to the Cup decider later this season.
Rachel Marr finished with a hat-trick, and in news which mayrattle their rivals, Bates is adamant the Redscan go up a few gears.
“We are cruising along nicely,” he said.
“On the night we were sharper and took our chances.
“I’m happy with where the girls are at – they are disciplined and play to structures.
“Wakehurst are a fairly young side, I have no doubt they can improve.”
Alice Kirby and Maeve Gerathy scored Avalon’s other goals.
In the other semi-final, Manly Vale beat Seaforth 1-0 thanks to a sharp finish from Jamie Schofield.
