Friday 23rd February will see the best of the local premier league take on Manly United once again at 7:45pm at Cromer Park.
CC Strikers’ Ryan Butcher and Pittwater’s Adam Israel are at the helm for the MWFA select team and have picked a strong squad who ran out 1-0 victors against NSFA on Wednesday 14th February.
Pittwaters Charlie Fyfe who has been a mainstay of the MWFA side over the years has been named captain and is looking forward to what should be a spectacle of football showcasing the strength of the game on the Northern Beaches “this is always a game that we look forward to, to have the opportunity to test ourselves against Manly United is a great experience for us local lads and this year has some added spice due to Manly’s championship winning season last year, we’ll give it our best shot and hopefully put on a show for the crowd”.
Manly United skipper Jamie Lobb reiterated Fyfes thoughts and hopes to see a big crowd down at Cromer Park to add to the occasion “this game is always a challenge for us and its a good pre season hit out due to the competitive nature of the fixture with the MWFA side being the underdog looking to cause the upset, there’s nothing better than Friday night football under the lights so it would be great to pack out Cromer Park to showcase just what football on the Northern Beaches is all about”.
This year will also see the introduction of the junior MWFA AYL sides playing against Manly United from U13 to U16 which will showcase the depth of junior talent that our region has. Junior games will kick off from 5pm and be run across Cromer 1 and Cromer 3 before the main senior game at 7:45pm on Cromer 1.
