GOALS in each half from Ashley McEwan and Rachel Marr saw Avalon stun league champions Manly Vale 2-0 in Sunday’s MWFA women’s Premier League semi-final at Melwood Oval.
Reds coach Larry Bates felt it was all about peaking at the right time.
“Manly Vale are a good side, Tony (Bruzzano) has them well organised and very hard to break down,” he said.
“Semi-final football is a different beast, you need plenty of things to go your way.
“We turned up ready to play and played smart football.”
In the other semi-final, Beacon Hill beat Wakehurst 3-2 in another high quality game.
Kick-off in Sunday’s decider at Cromer Park is 5pm.
