A SECOND half hat-trick from Brendan Ashcroft saw St Augustine’s come from behind to beat Manly Vale 5-3 on Saturday at Graham Reserve.
Saints were awful in the first half and were lucky to be only 2-0 down at the break, according to coach Nick Tomaino.
Some home truths were revealed over a few oranges, and the home side then went on a scoring rampage.
Ashcroft (3), Sam Byrne and Josh Jacka-Easter found the back of the net to ensure Tomaino was a much happier man at the final whistle.
“We made two changes at halftime, and if I had more players on the bench I would have thrown them on, we were that bad,” he said.
“I was happy with the response, Brendan (Ashcroft) certainly redeemed himself.”
Other games saw Pittwater RSL FC topple Seaforth 3-2, Narrabeen laboured to a 1-0 win versus Dee Why, Wakehurst and Mosman finished 1-1 and Manly Allambie thrashed Brookvale 3-0.
