MWFA will be hosting a workshop on trials/grading processes and pre-season training for coaches, CCCs and club committee members, as well as giving them an opportunity to share what has worked well for them at their clubs with each other.
Trials/Grading and Pre-Season Training Workshop

7pm 9pm @ MWFA Clubhouse, Cromer Park
This workshop will address common challenges of running trials, as well as coordinating pre-season training, including:
What age group to start grading, and to start taking playing positions into consideration
How many sessions to have per week, over how many weeks in total etc
What kind of activities to use (drills, small games, large games etc) and how much to coach in them
Ideal selection criteria (including reports from last season?), and who is best to have as assessors
How to manage requests to play up an age group, requests for feedback, complaints etc
Managing age groups in pre-season, ideal squad sizes and when to finalise squads by
How to balance fitness and skill/team development in pre-season
How to recruit new coaches and better engage parents
