MWFA Premier League Women’s Round 5 Review

Torrential rain throughout the Northern Beaches meant that only one MWFA Premier League Women’s match kicked off on Sunday afternoon.

However even that fixture between Pittwater and Manly Allambie at Kitchener would not play out to its conclusion, with the match abandoned at half time.

At the time, two of the competition’s in-form teams were locked in a tight 1-1 stalemate.

“The game was a difficult one for both sides due to the conditions,” Pittwater coach Jake Cohen said.

“However both teams created some great goalscoring opportunities and in the end a draw was a fair result.

“When the field is a drier surface, it’ll be a top game between two good sides aiming for that top half of the table.

“Ultimately though, after such a heavy downpour, the referee along with Kyle (Cannon) and myself had no choice but to abandon the game to ensure the safety of the players and ensure no injuries occurred.”

Scheduled fixtures between Beacon Hill and Manly Vale, Mosman and Seaforth, as well as Brookvale and Wakehurst were all washed out.

Two reserve grade matches were played out earlier in the afternoon, with Manly Allambie coming away 2-0 victors over Pittwater and Brookvale and Wakehurst battling out a 0-0 draw.
