ANDREW Green is anything but a showman.
When asked this week about his impressive hat-trick last start against Seaforth, the Wakehurst Premier League striker quickly deflected the accolades onto his teammates.
“I was in the right place at the right time,” Green said.
“The goals were mainly tap-ins, my teammates did all the hard work for me.”
After just over a decade with the Tigers from under-10s through to Premier League, Green entered the representative arena last season with Sydney University in the NSW NPL 3 competition.
“I didn’t mind it, but it was a massive commitment, especially all the training and away games every second weekend,”the 23-year-old said.
“It was good to see where I was at, and now I can always say I had a crack at that level.”
Green also had to laugh when Wakehurst won the Prems grand final on penalties over CC Strikers in what was an epic decider last August at Cromer Park.
“I was there watching the boys, it was great to see them win, but after so long with the club…it was tough not being out there playing,” he said.
“They did really well that night, and I believe we are good enough to win it again this year, everything is coming together at the right time.”
Coach Paul Juergens is a big fan of Green, labelling his star forward a ‘key contributor’ to the team’s success the past few months.
Green, who has scored ‘ about seven or eight goals’ this campaign, also happens to be equally talented away from the pitch.
He is in the final semester of an Property Economics degree at UTS in the city.
