CC Strikers are firming to play semi-final football in the MWFA Premier League this season after a thrilling 4-3 win against Mosman on Saturday.

Ryan Butcher’s men were cruising early in the second half at Allan Border Oval, up 3-1, only to see the Whales score two quick goals to make it 3-3.

Captain Luke Curnow then won it late for CC Strikers, much to the relief of his teammates, travelling supporters and Butcher.

“Mosman showed great character to get back into the game, and then we responded well when we had to,”the coach said.

“It was a really important win for us in the context of the race to finish in the top four.”

CC Strikers (26 points) are outright third, with Wakehurst ahead of Mosman (24 points)in fourth spot on goal difference.

Brookvale and Pittwater RSL FC(both 31 points) will fight it out for the title.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Pitts thumped Dee Why 4-0, St Augustine’s blitzed Narrabeen 7-3, Brookie edged out Wakehurst 1-0 and Seaforth versus Manly Vale finished in a 1-1 draw.
