MWFA 2022 Female Coaching Scholarships Applications Open Now

2020 promo

MWFA is pleased to announce that we are again offering our Female Coaching Scholarship Program in 2022, and applications are now open.

As part of the MWFA’s commitment to increasing the number of female coaches on the Northern Beaches, and support provided to female coaches, we are offering scholarships for current female coaches, and those looking to get into coaching.

Selected coaches will receive funding to attend the FA C-Licence at Cromer Park in either October/November 2022 or January/February/March 2023, as well as ongoing mentoring, opportunities to develop new skills and give back by sharing what they’ve learnt with other female coaches, and promoting female coaches in the sport.

This Scholarship Program has seen some great successes over recent years, with previous recipients presenting our Female Only MiniRoos and Skill Training coaching courses, which was a great experience for them but also for the participants. All Scholarship recipients have also take on leadership roles with their clubs, mainly as a ‘CCC’ (Club Coaching Coordinator) supporting other coaches with advice and assistance. See here for more information on the CCC Program: https://www.playfootball.com.au/coach/ccc-program: https://www.playfootball.com.au/coach/ccc-program

As a young female coach, I found the C-Licence course provided me with relevant and helpful information and tips to further develop me as a coach. The learning environment was incredible, and the interaction I had with the group encouraged us to share our own ways of coaching as well as getting to know each others coaching experiences. I felt intimidated going into a male dominant group, but after the first couple hours on day 1 I felt validated and respected and ended up meeting a mix of great coaches! I encourage more female coaches to consider this course, it’s well worth it.

Football has come a long way since I first started playing and coaching, however there is still a significant way to go, especially in trying to engage more females into coaching roles within the sport. Undertaking this C-Licence course can be the first step towards making this happen. The course is relevant to the current time and expanded my knowledge in a number of areas that I hadn’t even considered as a coach. The course leaders and additional coaches challenged my way of thinking, but in a safe and positive environment where feedback and constructive criticism was welcomed. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and am excited to be a part of this next generation of quality female coaches.

The funding for the scholarship will be in two installments: 50% will be reimbursed by the MWFA after the coach has registered and paid for the course (or their club has paid for them). Once the scholarship recipient has completed all of the Scholarship Program tasks in the 2023 season, the remaining 50% will be reimbursed.

Dates for the next two C-Licences at Cromer Park have been confirmed, and more details will be announced next week.

Course 1: Oct 16, 23, 30 and Nov 6, 13, 20, 27

Course 2: Jan 21, 22, Feb 5, 12, 19, 26 and March 5
