Pittwater’s Women’s Premier League outfit have well and truly proven that a week is a long time in sport.

After conceding 11 goals in two heavy defeats to kick off the season, Jake Cohen’s young side have significantly turned things around with two wins in the space of four days.

A 2-1 win over Seaforth and 3-1 triumph over Brookvale have spirits high heading into round 5 of the competition.

“Obviously the team has started to gel again after the COVID break, just forming those combinations,” Cohen reflected.

“Getting a few key players back for the last couple of games has really helped in getting two wins on the bounce.”

Pittwater face their greatest obstacle yet at Kitchener on Sunday, against an undefeated Manly Allambie team who enter the contest off the back of an emphatic 4-0 drubbing of Beacon Hill.

Cohen is well aware that his side must be at their best if they are to continue their purple patch against last year’s grand finalists.

“Manly Allambie are very strong, I know a few of their players from my time at Manly, so it will definitely be a tough game,” he anticipated.

“We’ll just go out there, try and play our football and give it our best shot.

“They’re going to be a well-structured team, I know Kyle Cannon their coach as well and he always has them playing good football so I definitely expect a tough test this week.

“But I’m quietly confident this weekend – this season we’re really just taking it week by week and trying to win as many games as we can.”

In round 5’s other fixtures, Mosman visit Seaforth, Brookvale host Wakehurst and two of the competition’s traditional heavyweights Manly Vale and Beacon Hill meet at Beacon Hill Oval.
