A BRILLIANT hat-trick from Ellen Wheatley saw Manly Allambie beat Seaforth 5-3 on Sunday at Millers Reserve.

Tess Olsen scored a double for the hosts, in a performance which lifted the heart rate of coach Kyle Cannon.

“It was a crazy game, both teams love to attack and goals followed,” he said.

“Conditions were tough for both teams, it was wild English weather.

“I thought we started well and deserved an early goal, but then fell away from our game plan and Seaforth actually went 3-2 up.

“Thankfully we tend to play our best football when behind, so in the end it was pleasing to get the result.”

Wheatley’s strike to give Manly Allambie a 4-3 lead in the second half will take some beating for goal of the year.

The ex Manly United midfielder rifled home a free kick from 30 yards which never looked like missing.

Elsewhere, Avalon finally clicked into gear, shocking Beacon Hill 2-0 and Wakehurst outgunned Forest Killarney 5-1.

Brookvale and Manly Vale had the bye.
