MWFA Premier League Men’s Round 6 Preview

pitt v strikers 1sts (7)

Despite recent results, CC Strikers coach Ryan Butcher is not underestimating the challenge his side faces when they take on Brookvale at St. Matthews Farm this weekend.

With one-third of the regular season now played, Strikers and Brookvale both sit in mid-table having struggled to compile a consistent run of results.

Butcher’s immediate focus is exactly that.

“It’s been an up and down start to the season but our form line isn’t a million miles away,” he said.

“We’ve shown glimpses of some really good football but we haven’t stayed at the right level for long enough and the results reflect that.

“Pitts were the better side last week and deserved the points but we didn’t meet our own performance expectations and again missed chances which cost us an opportunity to get back in the game.

Despite a few uncharacteristic results from the reigning NSW Champion of Champions, Strikers are preparing for a tough contest against a quality side.

“Like us Brookie’s results have been mixed but we are aware of the quality they have and they have the results on the board over a long period of time,” Butcher said. “We’ll need to be right up for it, and we will be.

“We still have big aspirations this season and it looks very open for a lot of teams so a run of 3-4 wins will change a lot.”

Butcher is also pleased with the application of his Reserve Grade squad so far this season, who currently sit in second spot.

Five rounds into that competition, Mosman FC sit top on 12 points with Brookvale and Narrabeen rounding out the top four.

In other Premier League action this weekend, Curl Curl host Vale, Harbord meet Belrose-Terry Hills, Seaforth visit Saints, Pittwater clash with Mosman and Narrabeen travel to Wakehurst.
