The semi-finals destiny of Sydney FC’s youth squad goes on the line at Cromer Park on Saturday afternoon when they take on third-placed Adelaide United in the penultimate match of the regular season. The “Baby Blues” are sitting fourth on the ladder with games against the Reds (third) and Central Coast (second) remaining. Only the top four sides qualify for the post season finals series.
Former Manly United duo Sam Gallagher and Joey Gibbs – the latter is tipped to make a return to the peninsula club when his Sydney FC commitments end – will be on show while Chris Payne may also be sent down to get some much-needed game time ahead of the return leg A-League finals clash with Melbourne Victory next weekend. Manly United head coach Phil Moss said it was a great opportunity for local supporters to see some of the best up and coming talent in Australia. “You have two of the best youth teams in the country playing each other at Cromer Park and a few of these boys will be stars of the A-League in the near future,” Moss said. “It’s a great chance to get to our local ground and see some genuine talent on show and I’d encourage all parents to bring their kids along to give them some inspiration. “You can’t underestimate the importance of kids having role models to look up to for inspiration and there will be plenty of them on show on Saturday afternoon.” The game kicks off at Cromer Park at 4pm on Saturday. |
