In 2009 the NSW Sport and Recreation Minister, Kevin Greene announced a scholarship that would allow 15 women, to attend the 5th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport, being held from 20 – 23 May 2010 in Sydney at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. Fifteen NSW women will each receive a $1000 scholarship to attend the conference. The scholarship will consist of one full early-bird registration valued at $890 and $110 towards travel and accommodation expenses.
Ten scholarships will be awarded to applicants from the broader community and five grants will be awarded to women of Indigenous background. Women with disabilities, from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and those living in rural or remote areas are encouraged to apply. Who is eligible to apply: - Women aged 18 years or over on 26 February 2010 - Permanent residents of New South Wales - Women currently involved in either a paid or voluntary capacity in the sport, recreation or physical activity industry in NSW The closing date for applications has been extended to Friday 26 February 2010.
