A BRACE from striker Jules Waugh saw Manly Vale win the women’s MWFA Premier League title following a 2-1 win over Beacon Hill on Sunday at David Thomas Reserve.

It what was a tense affair, Waugh’s two goals in the first half put the hosts in control, but Vince Vescios Beacon Hill kept fighting.

“What a massive effort from our girls, Beacon (Hill) threw everything at us,” Manly Vale co-coach Roland Winter said.

We both had chances to win it, we had to show plenty of resilience.

“Both squads have fought for the title all season, we are very happy it went our way.”

It was Vale’s second piece of major silverware in 2019, after also winning the MWFA Challenge Cup final over Forest Killarney in May.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Wakehurst dusted Seaforth 2-0 to secure second spot on the ladder, Mosman did enough to beat Forest Killarney 2-1 and Manly Allambie outgunned Brookvale 3-1.

The semi-finals of the women’s MWFA Premier League will be played at Lionel Watts this Sunday, August 18 from 2.30pm.
