MWFA profile: Ed Goodall

THE thought of potentially playing in the MWFA Premier League in 2020 has the Harbord Seasiders United AL/1s men’s playing group very excited.

Leading the charge is defender Ed Goodall, but the captain was quick to point out plenty of hard work still needs to be done.

“Our goal in pre-season was to put ourselves in a position to win the league and we have done that, which is great,” the 22-year-old said.

“We had a bit of catching up to do after losing our first two games, but since then we have managed to go 11 games unbeaten.

“This weekend is another big test versus (league leaders) BTH (Raiders), if we manage to get the right result, we will be in a good place.”

Goodall, who also represented Jefferson Community College in New York across two years, has been a HSU player since the age of four.

He was quick to point out the influence of coach Paul Mulligan on the current playing group at Harbord Park.

“Someone told me the other day he (Mulligan) is about to celebrate 20 years with the club, which is just unbelievable,” Goodall said.

“The work he does behind the scenes is awesome, he loves all aspects of the club.

“We have managed to keep the core group of players together for a while now, and results have followed.

“It would be amazing to get promoted, we probably owe it to Paul as well.”

HSU take on BTH Raiders in what looms as a AL/1s title decider this Saturday afternoon on home soil from 3pm.
