MWFA profile: Narrabeen's Bianca Barnwell

WHEN it comes to Narrabeen Football Club, Bianca Barnwell is happy to help in any way.

The mother of two initially became involved when her eldest son Ethan signed up to play in 2010, and she is still pitching in almost a decade later.

“I started out as team manager in the under-6s then had a crack at being vice-president in his age group and also as a registrar,” she said.

“I’m happy to help out, we have a terrific committee at Narrabeen.”

When Aiden then started playing a few years later, Bianca again put her hand up, as did her husband Steve.

“We see it as a way of giving back,” she said.

“We live nearby in North Narrabeen and I really like how the focus is on the kids just having fun and improving their skills.

“Numbers continue to grow at the club, the interest in soccer is incredible.”

Narrabeen now have close to 1100 players on their books, and like so many MWFA clubs, the rise of girls playing the world game continues to swell annually.

“Our female numbers have doubled in recent years,” she said.

Away from her club commitments, Bianca is a registered nurse at the Mater Private Hospital on Sydney’s north shore.
