MWFA profile: Chris Gray

CHRIS Gray’s passion for all things football when it comes to St Augustine’s is incredible.

The PE teacher at Brookvale is a former student at the College and before hanging up the boots a few years ago – “my knees had enough”  – represented Saints from the under-12s through to Premier League as an adult.

“It’s funny how some things work out,” Gray said.

“I’ve always loved playing the game, and after staying locally on the (northern) beaches for work and then raising my family, there is no way I could have played for someone else, it just wouldn’t feel right.

“Saints have been good to me, I don’t see the need to change things for the sake of it.”

The father of two is the current club president and Gray is anticipating plenty of good times for Saints on the pitch over the next few years.

“I’ve just recently been over in England and Holland with our 14s and 15s on a development tour which was great fun,” he said.

“Based on some of our performances over there, the future is very bright.”

The 40-year-old also relishes working with Saints legend Dave Anglicas, Technical Director Nick Tomaino and his brother Adam Gray.

“We all like to bounce ideas off one another,” he said.

“I’m always looking for ways to improve my football knowledge, you need to evolve whenever possible.”
