FOLLOWING two decades in the MWFA Premier League wilderness, excitement is building for Curl Curl ahead of their season opener against Wakehurst.
Anthony Seminara’s squad have ignored the outside noise, and the coach scoffed at talk the men from Abbott Rd will be title contenders.
“We are happy to fly under the radar,” he said ahead of Saturday’s night clash with the Tigers at Cromer Park from 6pm.
“The step up will be difficult from the AL/1s, most of our young boys haven’t played at this level (Premier League)before.
“I’m excited for them, they deserve the opportunity to play quality teams, week in and week out.
“If we are competitive in most games and avoid relegation, that’s job done in my eyes.”
Other games this weekend from 3pm see Dee Why host Seaforth, CC Strikers entertain Pittwater RSL FC, Mosman do battle with Brookvale and St Augustine’s line up against Narrabeen.
