SEAFORTH have moved up to second spot on the ladder following a grinding 1-0 win versus Avalonon Sunday afternoon at Careel Bay.

Alyssa Deal scored the winner, with the visitors forced to defend in numbers in an attempt to deny the desperate Reds.

“It was a game of two halves, we started well, but after halftime we were definitely under the pump,” proud Seaforth coach Ash Mathieson said.

“Careel Bay is always tough to play at, the wind was significant, and Avalon asked plenty of questions.

“Sometimes you have to win ugly, which is what we did, the character we showed was great.

“I also can’t believe Avalon don’t have a point yet, I’m sure that will change soon, they are a good team.”

Other games saw Brookvale edge out Manly Allambie 3-2, Beacon Hill outgunned Manly Vale 4-1 and Wakehurst eased to an 8-0 triumph over Forest Killarney.
