A LONG standing friendship with teammate Amy Scott is the reason Ayse Adalis joined Beacon Hill’s Premier League women’s squad in 2016.
It has proven to be a terrific coup for Vince Vescio’s team, with the Turkish striker lethal in front of goal.
Adalis scored a jaw-dropping 47 goals last season, and has hit the ground running this year, already nabbing a hat-trick versus Forest Killarney.
A highway patrol officer away from football, Adalis has been impressed by the standard of competition the past few years.
“Amy (Scott) kept getting in my ear to come and play, eventually I decided OK, I was going to do it,” Adalis said.
“I used to play representative stuff with Sydney Olympic FC and APIA Tigers, but at my age (30), I just play for fun now.
“The Beacon girls are great, I’m really enjoying my football.”
Adalis has formed an on-field combination with Jess Wootton which is the envy of every other team on the peninsula.
“We clicked instantly, Jess is a very good player,” Adalis said.
“So far it has worked well.”
The commitment of Adalis cannot be questioned.
While unable to train midweek due to work hours, she commutes every Sunday from Parramatta.
“It certainly isn’t next door, but you get used to it,” she said.
“I want to keep playing as long as possible, hopefully we can win a few trophies before I hang up the boots.”
