Community Coaching Expo – A huge success

coaching expo

The wet and wild weather did nothing to deter the enthusiasm and desire to learn of the 138 coaches that attended the 2018 Community Coaching Expo at Cromer Park on Thursday 22nd March.

This years Expo saw 4 individual workshops run covering ALDI MiniRoos coaching, SAP coaching, 11v11 coaching and Goalkeeper coaching. The 138 coaches in attendance were also armed with some valuable football specific first aid and defibrillator training. The evening was rounded off with special guest Sydney FC assistant coach Phil Moss joining a Q&A panel alongside Manly United Technical Director Warren Grieve, Football NSW Coach Education Manager Oscar Gonzalez and First Aid trainer Duncan Kerr.

MWFA Community Coach Development Manager Chris Adams was thrilled with the evening and thanked everyones efforts having such a great turnout on a wet night is a great achievement and is testament to the attitude of the coaches we have in our region who continue to strive to learn.

One of the key focuses for the evening was to ensure that whatever level coaches are coaching at it is vital to keep practices fun and engaging, this focus was reaffirmed by all of the Q&A panellists. Sydney FC assistant and former Manly United Technical Director Moss heaped praise on all of the attendees A League coaches and those at the top of the game are in the headlines and the spotlight but grassroots coaches are the most important coaches in Australia as you breed the passion and enthusiasm into junior players and get kids to fall in love with football.

Two lucky coaches also walked away with an extra special door prize kindly donated by Hyundai A League club Sydney FC. The two winning coaches will attend the Sydney FC vs Adelaide United home game alongside 3 friends and receive a match day experience of a stadium tour and pitch side access to the Sydney FC warm up. Avalon Soccer Club who had the most club coaches in attendance also walked away with a coaching pack of balls, bibs, cones and goals kindly donated by Football NSW much to the delight of club president John Kowtan who thanked the MWFA for their efforts with the Expo, The Expo was extremely well organised and highly beneficial to all of the coaches in attendance , the Avalon coaches in attendance all walked away feeling enthused and ready to start the MWFA season in a few weeks time, thank you to Chris and his team for helping to support grassroots coaches across the Northern Beaches.

MWFA centralised coaching workshops will continue on from 2017 with the first for 2018 being on Monday the 9th April from 7pm8:30pm further details will be released next week.
