MWFA Select and Youth update

180223 MUFC v MWFA TRIAL GAMES (22 of 40)

PROUD MWFA Select Squad skipper Charlie Fyfe felt his team more than held their own last Friday in the annual friendly versus Manly United.

In the end Paul Dee’s men ran out 2-0 winners, but the squad assembled from the men’s MWFA Premier League won plenty of admirers at Cromer Park.

“Obviously they (Manly) controlled possession and had the majority of play, but we could have gone 1-0 up with a header early on,” Fyfe said.

“I thought we deserved a goal but it wasn’t to be.”

Fyfe nominated his Pittwater RSL FC teammate Mitch Macedo, CC Strikers left sided midfielder Luke Curnow and experienced Brookvale defender Josh Lawson as his trio of standouts.

“Those guys were great, they showed their class,” he said.

“It’s always a privilege to play in this game.

“I think Manly will again have a big season, they look very sharp.”

Earlier in the evening the MWFA Association Youth League teams played the Manly United Boys Youth League teams with Manly United making it a clean sweep.
