Cromer Park will host some of Australias best female football players in December with Sydney FC to take on Melbourne Victory in a Westfield W-League Big Blue on Saturday 2 December.

Sydney FC will lock horns with long-time rivals Melbourne Victory in a match that will showcase Australias elite players in the strongest female football nursery in Australia, Manly Warringah.

The Manly Warringah Football Association currently has more than 5,000 registered female football players, 29% of its total participants, with Manly United recently taking out the NSW NPL1 Womens Grand Final.

Throw in Manly United and Belrose Terrey Hills star Remy Siemsen, who will play the 2017/18 Westfield W-League season with Sydney FC, and the match promises to be a stellar occasion at Cromer Park.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the Northern Beaches football community to unite and show the rest of Australia how strong womens football is in Manly Warringah, said MWFA and Manly United CEO David Mason.

To have Sydney FC host Melbourne Victory in a competitive Westfield W-League match at Cromer Park is a great boost for football in the area, especially amongst our strong female football community.

Our female participation numbers at grassroots level in the MWFA competitions are incredibly strong and our elite program at Manly United is amongst the best in Australia and I have no doubt Cromer Park will be buzzing on December 2.

The match will be the culmination of a week of female football activities, hosted by the Manly Warringah Football Association (MWFA) and Manly United.

We have already had great support from Sydney FC leading into the match and we look forward to working with Sydney FC and FFA to ensure it is more than just a game but a celebration of womens football, Mason said.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend said: I am delighted that Sydney FC is heading back to Cromer Park with our Westfield W-League team this year.

Manly-Warringah is an area I know well and it has a large and passionate football community, particularly for the womens game.

We look forward to working closely with Manly United and the MWFA to ensurea strong turnout and support for our W-League team in what is one of our biggest matches of the year.
